Messe Düsseldorf is where industries host their leading international trade fairs: K for plastics, glasstec for glass, drupa for print, MEDICA for medical technology, and A+A for occupational safety. Companies exhibiting here are not competing on a regional level, but on a global stage.
The venue offers around 262,000 square metres of exhibition hall space, plus 43,000 square metres of outdoor exhibition area. Hall sizes range from just under 3,900 to more than 25,000 square metres, ceiling heights vary between 8 and 26 metres, and the hall floors can support up to 10 tonnes per square metre. In other words, a fully loaded truck can stand inside the hall.
One important detail should be considered before designing a stand concept: in Düsseldorf, each suspension point is limited to 50 kilograms. If you are planning a lit truss system with banner loads or a suspended LED wall, the design must follow a different approach. Heavy elements need to be integrated into the stand structure itself rather than suspended above it. Two of our largest projects in Düsseldorf, featured below, demonstrate different ways to solve this challenge.

An Industrial Silo Inside the Exhibition Hall: Dräger at A+A
Dräger's objective at A+A was not to showcase products but to demonstrate a real application: Confined Space Entry, the process of entering restricted industrial spaces. This is a topic that cannot be effectively communicated through catalogue pages alone.
So we built the scenario.
At the centre of the 356-square-metre double-decker stand stood a life-size industrial silo replica, integrated into a setting resembling a storage tank facility. Product areas were organised according to practical use rather than catalogue categories. Every piece of equipment was positioned exactly where it would be used in a real-life environment. Visitors experienced a complete journey through a typical working day at an industrial plant.

The technically most challenging element was the integration of a large-scale LED video wall, mounted flush into the outer curvature of the silo structure. Incorporating a substantial digital display into a curved silo while maintaining structural compliance within a double-decker stand required significant engineering expertise.
The structure was clad with trapezoidal sheet metal, a material commonly used in the industrial environments represented by the exhibition.

A continuous truss system illuminated the entire stand, combining warm white lighting in the covered lounge areas with targeted LED track lighting above solution-focused zones.
This remains the largest and most technically sophisticated project we have delivered in Düsseldorf.
A Client Brief We Would Love to Receive More Often: Edgetech at glasstec
Some clients provide extensive specifications. Edgetech Europe essentially gave us four requirements:

A concept that explained itself within seconds while making visitors feel welcome
Since 1989, Edgetech in Heinsberg has been producing spacer systems for insulating glass. The product itself is a component that remains invisible once installed in a finished window.
On 136 square metres, we created a striking stand concept centred around a single core exhibit. The design featured bright, open architecture, clean lines, a backlit overhead banner, and a large integrated LED video wall whose staggered modules became a design element in their own right.
The real challenge was long-distance visibility.
Suspended lighting trusses with banner loads were not feasible in this hall. Instead, we integrated the lighting directly into the structure and installed a self-supporting overhead banner at seven metres height. From a distance, it appeared suspended. Technically, it was exactly the opposite.
One aspect rarely found in exhibition stand projects was central to this one: every design revision was costed and reviewed immediately. The term "affordable" appeared in the original brief, so the client always knew the cost implications of each design decision before approving it.
